Specialty Workshops
The objective of each specialized workshop is to expose the horse owner, farrier, veterinarian, and hoof care provider to the latest research used in the development of the theories and models used in the practice of Applied Equine Podiatry (AEP).
Topics:
- Navicular Syndrome
- Chronic Founder / Equine Digital Osteoarthritis
- Balance Fundamentals
- Remedial Orthotics / Perfect Hoof Wear
AEP is a science-based barefoot/shoeless approach to Holistic Hoof Care. Because no shoes are utilized in its practice the horse owner can learn to take on many of the responsibilities involved in hoof care that were once delegated to the farrier. This course will give the horse owner the knowledge needed to make informed intelligent decisions concerning their horse’s hooves.
The course provides the farrier and veterinarian with new knowledge and insight necessary to support the client that wishes to share in the responsibility of hoof care in a more holistic manner. AEP should be viewed as an added tool or resource for today’s hoof care professional. The hoof care industry is evolving and the information this course provides will help professionals keep pace with change. Today’s horse owner wants to deal with farriers and veterinarians that remain well informed in all aspects of hoof care, not simply shoeing.
Participants will learn firsthand how to evaluate hoof health and foot function. Common hoof disorders are discussed with the goal of eliminating confusion. Tool use and care will be discussed.
There will be hands-on training in the use of the new Dynamic Balance Hoof Level for those that wish to participate. Maintaining correct Balance is critical to health and recovery from injury and disease.
